HOW DO I BECOME LICENSED?
There are 2 steps to obtaining your real estate license. The first is completing the number of educational hours for your state through a required course by an approved school. The second step is passing the state and national exams.
IS THE SCHOOL I WILL BE ENROLLED IN APPROVED BY THE STATE?
Yes. The school we partner with is Real Estate Express, they are an accredited, state-approved school.
IS THERE A PHYSICAL LOCATION FOR CLASSES OR ARE THEY ONLY DONE ONLINE?
The course is completely online and self-paced.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE THE COURSES?
You will have an expiration date on your course. You will get a minimum of 6 months to complete the course and you work at your own speed. As long as you finish within the expiration date the school gives you, your completion time depends on you. Most students finish the course in 2-4 months.
CAN THE DEDUCTION DATE FOR PAYMENTS BE CHANGED?
After the activation fee and first monthly payment have been paid the monthly deduction date can be changed.
HOW DOES THE TUITION REIMBURSEMENT WORK?
We offer brokerage firm placement assistance once you’re licensed, but this is a free service and not a requirement. If you already had a firm lined up, great! We don’t obligate you to work for anyone. However, if you do want us to help you find a brokerage, reach out to us once you have your license and tell us who you want to work with. Groove Real Estate is a brokerage, so we always like our new licensees to join us whenever possible. However, if you have another broker in mind, let us know who it is and we will be able to accommodate. We can’t guarantee placement, but we’re happy to do the leg work for you. To qualify for tuition reimbursement you must sell your first home within a year of joining Groove Real Estate.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET REIMBURSED AFTER I SELL MY FIRST HOME?
You will receive a refund within 7-10 business days after we receive verification of closed escrow from their brokerage.
DO I HAVE TO STAY WITH ANY PARTICULAR BROKERAGE?
Whatever agreement you have with a particular brokerage is between you and that brokerage. Groove Real Estate will not be involved.
CAN I WORK FOR MORE THAN 1 BROKERAGE AT ONCE?
Not usually. However, whatever agreement you have with a particular brokerage is between you and that brokerage. Groove Real Estate will not be involved.
DO I PAY FOR THE STATE EXAM SEPARATELY?
Yes. The fees on our website only cover pre-licensing education. There will be other fees associated with obtaining and maintaining your license. Please see your state board website for applicable fees as these differ by state.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO BECOME A REAL ESTATE AGENT?
It will differ by state, however, you can expect to pay $1500-$2000 out of pocket the first year. This includes your pre-license education. As those fees differ by state please see your state board website for your state’s fees.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I COMPLETE THE COURSE?
Once you have completed your course and passed the final course exam you will receive a completion certificate from Real Estate Express verifying you have fulfilled your educational hours for your state. Real Estate Express will also provide instructions on next steps and scheduling your state exams.
CAN I CANCEL THE COURSE IF I CHANGE MY MIND?
Once you sign up for our licensing program, you have 14 days to cancel, provided you have not yet started taking courses. The reason for this is because we pay for your education up front, in full, and we are unable to receive a refund from Real Estate Express once either of those thresholds is passed. You will be responsible for the payments whether you finish the course or not.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T PASS THE STATE EXAM?
You will need to retake the exam and pay the exam fee again, if applicable. If the exam is failed more than the number of times your state allows, you may be required to retake the course. Contact your state board for more details.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I ALREADY HAVE A FELONY?
It doesn’t necessarily disqualify you from becoming licensed. Contact your state board for more details.
